NEW AUTHOR CREATES SIMPLE STEPS FOR A HEALTHY AND ROMANTIC VALENTINE’S DAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Are you worried about another devastating holiday meal post winter festivities? Do you know there are healthy alternatives to your traditional Valentine’s Day activities? Local nutrition expert Ruben Guzman and newly published author of Evolving Health shares the below following tips and tricks for a healthy V-Day, which is traditionally trademarked with chocolate gifts and pre-set menu items at restaurants. Coach Ruben’s tips are as follows:

• Forget the chocolates. Go with the roses. The best prices are at Costco, Raley’s and Bel Air. Be sure to get them early. If you do want chocolates, get vegan chocolate.

• Forget cooking. Take her to a lovely Thai restaurant (there are many here in the Sacramento region). It’s a much more romantic setting and less noisy. Let her know that you care about her health and order completely vegetarian selections from the menu. Research shows that eating meat and dairy actually interfere with sexual pleasure, and we wouldn’t want that! Vegan is the new Viagra!!

• After dinner, go for a nice walk – at least 30 minutes. Be sure to hold her hand and look at the stars!

• Set the mood for when you get back home. Get scented beeswax candles. They are healthier and create a wonderful aroma. You can get them at Whole Foods or the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op.

• While you’re there, pick up some organic coconut oil for the wonderful massage you’re going to give her. This is great oil that will nourish and soften her skin and is non-greasy. And yes, it’s edible!

• For a late night snack, get some fresh fruit and have it sliced and chilled waiting in the refrigerator. Don’t forget to get some non-dairy whip cream to go with that. Of course, feel free to get a little careless and spill some on her. Yum!

In addition to fabulous Valentine’s Day tips local expert, Ruben Guzman has a free seminar, Beyond Dieting coming up Saturday February 11th, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Capital Athletic Club located at 1515 8th Street in downtown Sacramento.
