Drexel’s Center for Graduate Studies Will Hold Final Fall Information Session September 8
Drexel's Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento will hold its final information session before the fall term on Wednesday, September 8.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Drexel University, a Philadelphia-based, non-profit university recognized as a national leader in academic innovation, will hold its final information session before the fall term on Wednesday, September 8. This will be primarily for students interested in starting in master’s programs later this month at the University’s Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento.

This will be the University’s fourth and final “inaugural cohort,” as it will graduate its first students with master’s degrees this coming December. It is also the final cohort that will be guaranteed to share in the $10 million in tuition assistance the Drexel Trustees allocated for “Sacramento Leadership Fellowships” when they voted in May 2008 to create a new campus for Drexel in Sacramento.

The Graduate Center, which opened at One Capitol Mall in January 2009, is already known as one of Northern California’s most high-tech conference and educational facilities. In its state-of-the-art classrooms, Drexel – a top-ranked national comprehensive university – will again offer six master’s and one doctoral degree program this fall that are designed for working professionals.

All seven programs are focused on the heart of Greater Sacramento’s growth and economic development initiatives – entrepreneurial business, human resource development, higher education, public health, knowledge management and information science. Classes “fit” with the students’ business responsibilities, and are a blend of in-class and online pedagogies. All classes are held in the evenings or on occasional weekends.

The final fall information session will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. at One Capitol Mall. Drexel’s fall term begins September 20.

Honored by the Sacramento City Council and the Board of Supervisors for Sacramento County for its commitment to academic excellence and public service, Drexel has developed fellowships and grants that are only available in Sacramento. All applicants are automatically considered for Sacramento Leadership Fellowships, which are awarded on the basis of demonstrated academic performance. Other financial aid programs include:

• Constantine Papadakis Public Service Fellowships: Provides additional support for government and nonprofit public service employees.

• Yellow Ribbon Program: A partnership with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs providing free education for post-9/11 military veterans.

• Community College Partnership Grant: Full- and part-time employees of California Community Colleges receive 40 percent tuition assistance.

• Bridge to the Future Grant: Cuts tuition in half for qualified applicants who have been laid off and are unable to find a new job.
